We recently moved into a new house which we had plastered and painted. My son had managed to scrape some of the paint off and now is able to peel the paint off quite easily. The peeled paint has the texture of dried tissue paper, its not hard but soft and stretchy. I could peel off the whole wall with just my hands. Can someone please tell me why this is?
The paint wasn’t diluted properly or not at all by the sounds of it so hasn’t soaked into the plaster
Hi there I'm afraid the painters hasn't give the walls a miss coat firstAnother option now is to seal the walls and rubdown and paint again
If it was newly painted, it could be that the wrong primer was used, or that the plaster was not completely dry when it was painted.
The plaster should of been painted with summit like a miscoat first then finish with your finished colour choice
Hello
your wall could be wet.You need to measure walls moisture
Another thing you always need to let plaster dry fully, then prime it, let it dry and then 2 coats of paint.
Sounds like you have damp problem though
It hasn’t adhered to the paint underneath maybe paint under neath is of the washable or scrubbable type and is waterproof , I’ve come across this before
Using a putty knife will be quicker abs safer to use, to avoid damaging your had.
