Yes, it's generally a good practice to paint the door frames before hanging the doors. This allows you to paint the frames with greater ease and precision, avoiding potential drips or smudges on the newly hung doors. Once the frames are dry, you can then focus on painting the doors without worrying about accidentally marring the surrounding areas.

I normally paint the frames first and then hang the doors. Doing it this way protects the doors from getting any paint on them while door frames are being painted.

HI!
If you're painting the door too you should do the frame first. This will ensure you don't get any paint on your freshly painted door. You can also choose to paint the frame any colour you want – it doesn't have to be the same colour as the door.

You can do prime and first coat before installing doors but it’s always recommended to apply further coats once door is installed as during installation door might be scratched

You could do it either way but would be easier painting before the door goes on so you wont get paint on the hinges

If you can paint the facings and frames before hanging the doors then it will be easier but not essential, if you hang the doors before you could masking tape the hinges and cover the doors then paint the facings and frames

No , if your using oak doors you wouldn’t paint them , a good quality stain that would bring out the oak features in the doors, and you would do this after the doors were installed

Yes, it's generally a good practice to paint the door frames before hanging the doors. This allows for easier and more thorough coverage, especially in areas close to the hinges and hardware. Once the frames are painted and dried, you can then hang the doors without worrying about accidentally smudging the freshly painted surfaces. It helps achieve a cleaner and more professional finish. Don't forget to use masking tape to protect any areas you don't want to paint, and ensure proper ventilation during the painting process.

Yes, it's generally a good idea to paint the door frames before hanging the doors. This allows you to paint the frames thoroughly without worrying about accidentally getting paint on the doors themselves. Additionally, painting the frames first ensures that the edges of the doors will be properly covered when they are hung in the frames. Once the frames are painted and completely dry, you can then hang the doors and paint them separately if needed. This approach usually results in a cleaner and more professional finish.

You have two options for painting the door frames: you can paint them before hanging the doors or after the doors have been hung. If you choose to paint after hanging, you can use Indasa film blue tape to protect the doors and yellow Tessa tape to cover the hinges. This will allow you to paint the frames without getting paint on the hinges. Make sure to cut around the hinges carefully with a razor blade for a clean finish.

When it comes to painting new oak doors, here’s the recommended approach:
Painting Door Frames:
Always paint the door frames first before hanging the doors. This ensures a clean and precise finish without any drips or smears on the door itself.
Follow these steps for painting door frames:
Remove the door: Take the door off its hinges to have easy access to all edges of the frame, including the bottom.
Clean the frame: Thoroughly clean the frame to remove any dust or debris.
Fill cracks or holes: Use caulk to fill any cracks or holes in the frame.
Apply painter’s tape: Protect the baseboards and adjacent surfaces by applying painter’s tape around the frame.
Prime (optional): If the frame is bare wood or hasn’t been painted before, consider applying a coat of primer. Primer ensures better paint adhesion and coverage.
Paint the frame: Use a paintbrush and/or mini roller to apply your chosen paint color to the frame.
Allow to dry: Follow the drying time specified by the paint manufacturer.
Hang the door: Once the frame is dry, you can hang the door back in place.
Door Material and Style Considerations:
If you’ve bought new oak doors and haven’t hung them yet, it’s best to paint them before installation.
Painting before hanging allows you to access all edges of the door, including the hinge edge, which can be tricky once the door is in position.
Remember to choose a high-quality paint suitable for oak doors, and take your time to achieve a professional finish. Happy painting!

Best option is to paint the door frames first.,a few days before the doors are being fitted.
Avoids the risk of contamination of paint onto the oak finish of the door faces and edges.
Any damage to the paint as a result of fitting the doors can be simply rectified with small paint repairs /filling later on.

if the oak doors are going to be natural then paint the frames first but if they’re going to be coated in some kind of oil or wood stain then it doesn’t really matter because it creates a layer on the doors so you’d be able to wipe any paint of them
