Thank you in advance for your expert advice. My dog was sick on our landing carpet and a pro carpet cleaner was unable to remove the stains despite trying for over an hour. Luckily I have some spare carpet left over from when it was fitted last year that will cover the stained area but not the whole landing.
The carpet is short pile as it runs up the stairs - if I were to cut the stained area out and replace it with the spare piece is there any possibility of the join being hidden or is that impossible for sort pile?
Thank you!
It can be done but is tricky
Yes use double sided tape or seam tape to join carpet together.
It is possible to join the carpet together whether with adhesive or seaming tape however there would be no guarantee this would be invisible, two reasons, the carpet already on the floor would have slightly discoloured with wear even in a short time and depending on the direction the carpet is going the seams are difficult to do neatly you only really want to put a join on the width.
If done correctly, there will be a very faint line. But unfortunately impossible to hide 100%
Especially since current carpet is used and the piece will be new. So you will notice shade difference. Even if it’s slight
Hope this helps
It is possible however should be heatseamed to ensure a permanent repair
Carpets can be joined - on a short pile carpet the join would be visible - bare that in mind
You can join 2 pieces of carpet together either spray join or seaming iron
