Can you wallpaper over mould-resistant paint?
I am dealing with extensive mould on walls of a room and have stripped back to the bare plaster, cleaned, then going to prime this with 1/4 paint 3/4 water, and paint over with mould-resistant paint as a 'kill off any last bits of mould' solution. Can I then wallpaper over this, or are there any considerations to doing so specifically when using this type of paint?
You can paper over it
But in long l run maybe a few years you will have to replace the paper if the mould is back.
If all mould is removed and the issue witch was causing this then yes paper should be OK.
The products you are using are basically the same stuff with a different name. The first thing I would do is find the cause of the mould.
Yes I can wallpaper over it but you have to be sure that there's no old damp.
Hi.
First you need to find reason why there is a mould and fix it.
In my experience i would put a oil based primer to act like a barrier . Because most cases the mould solution can react with the wallpaper adhesive.
Everything is correct. Nothing else is needed.
Go for it.
Remove the wallpaper and deal with the mould but I won't recommend to wallpaper over anti-mould paint
Yes, you can wallpaper over mould-resistant paint, but there are a few considerations to keep in mind:
1. **Surface Preparation:** Ensure that the surface is clean, dry, and free from any dust, grease, or debris before applying the mould-resistant paint. This will help to promote adhesion and ensure a smooth finish.
2. **Priming:** As you mentioned, priming the bare plaster with a diluted paint solution can help to seal the surface and provide a suitable base for the mould-resistant paint. Allow the primer to dry completely before applying the mould-resistant paint.
3. **Mould-Resistant Paint:** Use a high-quality mould-resistant paint specifically formulated for use in damp or high-moisture areas. These paints contain additives that help to inhibit the growth of mould and mildew, providing long-lasting protection for your walls.
4. **Compatibility with Wallpaper Adhesive:** Some mould-resistant paints may have a slightly different texture or finish compared to regular paint, which could affect how well the wallpaper adhesive adheres to the surface. It's a good idea to test a small area of the painted surface with wallpaper adhesive to ensure proper adhesion before proceeding with wallpapering the entire room.
5. **Application:** Apply the wallpaper adhesive according to the manufacturer's instructions, making sure to spread it evenly over the surface of the mould-resistant paint. Smooth out any air bubbles or wrinkles in the wallpaper to achieve a professional-looking finish.
6. **Maintenance:** While mould-resistant paint provides added protection against mould and mildew, it's still important to maintain proper ventilation and keep the room clean and dry to prevent moisture buildup and the growth of mould. Regular cleaning and maintenance can help to prolong the life of both the paint and the wallpaper.
By following these considerations and taking proper precautions, you can successfully wallpaper over mould-resistant paint and enjoy a clean, mould-free environment in your room. If you have any concerns or questions, don't hesitate to consult with a professional painter or decorator for advice tailored to your specific situation.
