We are in the process of buying a house with an integral garage and we would like to put a door from the hallway. We believe it's a supporting wall. Is it possible? Will it be subject to building regs? Roughly how much will it cost? Thank you.
Without seeing what exactly needs doing it's hard to quote how much its roughly going to cost
Should be day rate £180 /£250
Yes its not a huge job and all the regs will be fine and not very expensive
not much work to do for that job cost round 250 all in
your looking around £1800- £2400 + Vat + skip
Run it buy with the local authorities / building control / structural engineer
If it’s supporting you will be subject to building regs as will need a Rsj/lintel and will also need to be a fire door which will need to be checked by an inspector. Price is roughly £1200-£1800
I believe a structural engineer would need to be involved for the sake of both parties (yourself + the builder ). That way your both covered, your required work is easily achievable and something I’ve completed many times. A ball park figure of £1500 wouldn’t be too far off, but without seeing it in person I couldn’t give an exact figure.
Yes this is possible. You would have to use acros and strong boys to support whilst you install the correct lintel/steel. Once supported you can cut the door opening and knock through. The total for this would be around £1800
