Hi, can I use paper tape over plasterboard joints on new kitchen extension, then plaster skim over
You can use paper tape on joints if you are to fill over the top with easy fill. Also bearing in mind the plaster board is tappered rather than straight edge.
No a fibre tape must be used.
Better to use scrim tape. Doesn't cost much more & much easier to fix as it is self sticky
Regards simon
For best results use self adhesive fibre tapes. Paper tape tends to blow off.
No! Skrim tape over joints before plastering.
better using a scrim tape, that what its designed for.
no please dont do it. it will fall off soon after drying up.
you need proper skimming mesh tape for this purpose.
many thanks

Best to use scrim tape. Sometimes you can yes but it's not the best
Yes you can.the tapes basically there to cover the joints for the plaster go grip to
yes you can but it is better grid
Better way to use a self sticky tape wich made from fibre. Thanks
Yes can you use paper for joints.it's specific paper.
No, as its paper the water content in the plaster will soak into the paper tape and bubble up and in some cases come away from the plasterboard.
I would recommend not using paper tape but use the mesh scrim tape instead as it allows for more flexibility and not prone to splitting like paper tape. I always us FibaTape as it is highly adhesive so sticks well.
Yes that's no problem although scrim tape is easier ad it's self adhesive
It would be better to use fibre tape, known as scrim to cover crack then unibond and skim. Paper tape is not good quality and is mainly used for artex or drylining, but does occasionally lift.
Yes this can be done to prevent cracking due to joint movement
Hi I would use scrim the plaster will take better.
You wouldn't need to as if you tape and joint it,using papperd or scrim tape,3 applications of filler and then a good sand back followed by a mist coat
Hi. I would use scrim tape for plasterboard as it has a sticky adhesive plus it strengthens the joints . Dont use paper tape
No,use the correct scrim tape.

Best useing skrim tape on boards if you are plastering it. If you are useing paper tape you are best to go over it with easy fill and then a layer of joint cement the then sand it down and then primer for painting .hope that helps cheers eddie
you need to use Scrim Tape
No you cant use paper tape to skimm over as the moister and heat from plaster will.reactivate the glue and peel it
