When I turn my pullcord on the light comes on but when I then turn the shower on the pullcord light goes off and no power to shower. Is the problem with my pullcord or shower? any advice would be very appreciated!

It makes a short-circuit. I think is your shower leaking and gets water near your cables and takes your power out

Sounds like a wiring error, has it been in long
Seems to me there is a fault in the wiring they should be on separate wiring feeds and not interfere with each other
There has been incorrect wiring which should be checked by an electrician as soon as possible as the are completely separate circuits with very different power ratings.
Is the breaker in your fuseboard tripping when you turn on the shower.
The circuit the lights are working on shouldn't have anything to do with the shower circuit only thing I can see happening here is your rcd is tripping indicating you have a faulty shower unit
Hi,
Could you tell my if you have to reset an MCB or RCD at your consumer unit?
Kind regards
Rich
It sounds like fuse is being blown on the pull cord or a loose connection. When you turn the shower on and power goes between the fused pull cord and the unit, disconnection as required in a fault is taking place. An issue with the wiring is likely
This seems to me as if the power to the pull chord is split feeding the light and the shower. If this is the case it needs looking at urgently due to the severity.
Sounds like an issue with the pull cord
You have a Faulty pull cord switch
This would need investigating further. Could be a loose connection within the pull cord or even a burnt out cable causing the issue. Has the correct cable size been used for the KW loading of the shower. If not over time the cable burns out causing a fault
Something is very wrong here as the shower should be on a separate circuit!
It is a wiring fault the power to the pull cord is being fed from the shower isolator which should not be the case.
