Beginning your extension.

About to purchase a property that has planning permission for a double story extension. The permission runs out next December but it says "The development hereby permitted shall be begun within three years of the date of this permission." I don't have the funds to complete the whole project straight away so I wanted to know when they say begin, what's the littlest amount of work you can do to show it has begun if that makes sense. Seems a waste of time getting plans drawn up again and all that.

The littlest amount is to start ordering material for the work ahead also any works of construction, demolition, digging foundations, laying out or constructing a road and a material change in the use of the land.
