I have recently had a flood. The drying company to 3 foot of plaster of the top of some walls to dry out the brick work.
The builders have started plastering the wall and feathered in on top the lining paper that is still on the remainder of wall. Is this right or should the lining paper be removed ?
the paper should be removed first cause after will blow up and will look bad specially after paint.
So better to take it off!
I will suggest to remove it and let the wall to dry.
if it is just the edge i wouldnt panic too much but i wouldnt personally plaster over a full papered wall
The paper should be removed as when it gets damp does not allow the plaster to set properly
Lining paper in most cases (99%) should be taken off the wall.
Plastering over lining paper may cause plaster to come down in future or will make plaster hollow and easy to crack.
Paper should have been removed for a proper job, will need a good rub down now after paper is removed to feather it in, done properly and after painting or papering it will not be noticed at all.
We would have removed the lining paper
I'd remove any wall paper before skimming it but I've heard that if you PVA bond the wall the night before it can be skimmed the next day
lining paper should be removed first 100%
Yes before plaster any walls or ceilings if any lining paper on walls must be removed at all times also you must prepare the walls/ceiling apply a pva coat allow to dry then replaster
all paper must be removed. plaster will not bond,
I would never personally plaster over a surface that's not 100% solid,if your lining paper becomes unstuck that could cause the plaster to fail
Lining paper needs to be removed before you plaster :)
You need to remove wallpaper first then pva and do plastring,
100% remove lining paper.never plaster on top
Cowboys
remove all paper of every kind, it will blow in time and crack.
Lining paper, wallpaper, oil based paint and loose sections of the old plaster should always be removed before plastering. Otherwise it may start coming off once plaster starts to dry
Yes you should take paper all very well down before started Plastering.
you can't plaster over lining/wallpaper.
It should be removed and pva before plastering
He must removed the paper first then apply plaster on the walls.
Remove the lining paper are these plasterers mad
Hello remove lining paper. U cannot plaster on top 9/10 times lining paper will bubble up and plaster just gonna feel off.
It can be done as it is only being feathered in but it is only if the paper is really stuck/sound on the wall ... I always remove the paper personally because it can bubble up and cause problems ...
Hope this helps
B&D Plastering
It should be removed as the only thing holding plaster on is the paper
No wallpaper should not be plastered over
The lining paper should be removed first then works can go ahead
must remove all paper, it is a must
yes lining have to be removed
Hi I would have insisted the paper removed before the plastering was started as the damp plaster could lift paper and create bubbles were paper lifts but that's might be just me hope this helps Danny.
No the lining paper should be removed or heavily scratched to allow plaster to stick to plaster board or wall that are skimmed
Lining papper as with all wall papper should be removed before the plastering begins as the water and heat off plaster will activate the papper glue and can and will give no grip for the plaster
